"Compaq Laptop Issues"
Hi everyone, new here, but hoping somebody can help.
Here is what happened: I have a Compaq 1525US that is about a year and a half old. A couple nights ago I put it into hibernate, which it did just fine, then when I went to turn it on and it just didn't turn on. The power light came on, the HDD sorta spins, the floppy with click and the cd-rom will spool up. The monitor won't turn on, and it doesn't POST at all.
It had been acting kinda weird before that, if I twisted it wrong, or bumped the cord it would sometimes turn off completely, and trip the circuit breaker inside, and I'd have to do the hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reset it. This didn't work and I tried taking out the RAM, that didn't work.
So I started taking it apart today to see what I could find. The processor looks okay, no physical damage. But when I had it open, I tried to turn it on as I could actually watch the fans, and they are not turning on. I pulled out the "Charger Board" p/n 285525-001. Could this be the part that is fried? Would that cause the symptoms? I am pretty well versed in how normal PCs work, but I am lost inside a laptop as far as how the power system works.
Any help would be awesome!
Thanks
